REFERENDUM SAYS “LEAVE” BUT WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR FARMERS?
Withthe nation having decided to leave what will this mean for Farmers?
AdrianCannon, Chairman of the British Institute of Agricultural Consultants has graveconcerns. He comments “With no plan within Defra to date of what will happenwith the UK subsidy system it will create interesting times ahead”. From a farmbusiness perspective, careful planning needs to be observed and we will belooking at the impacts on our client’s businesses.
Hefurther comments “The interlinked legislation between the UK and EU on ruralmatters will be fascinating to see how this can be unravelled, indeed it willneed all of the two years from the invoking of Article 50… but I suspect wewill not end up with clear direction until the 11th hour as normal.”
Thekey now the decision has been made will be how the government will act in thebest interests of the nation to take us through this uncertain period, but Ithink it is predictable that will now enter a period of economic instability. There can be no doubt this will indeed be extra pressure on the rural sector.
