At an Extraordinary General Meeting held on 23 June 2025, members of the British Institute of Agricultural Consultants (BIAC) voted in favour of joining the newly formed Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) established by the Institute of Agricultural Management (IAgrM).
The new organisation, which will launch on 1 January 2026, will be known as the Society of Agriculture.
This decision marks a significant milestone in BIAC’s history, reflecting our commitment to evolving with the industry and offering enhanced support to our members. The Society of Agriculture will unite the strengths of BIAC and IAgrM, creating a single, forward-looking professional body that reflects the diversity, expertise, and ambitions of today’s agricultural sector.
Importantly for BIAC members, this is not a takeover but a true merger. The Society will preserve BIAC’s strong tradition of representing independent consultants, sole traders, and small practices – ensuring your voice remains central to the organisation’s future.
From 1 January 2026, BIAC memberships will transfer automatically to the new Society. Current member benefits, CPD records, and qualifications will be maintained and fully recognised, with the added advantage of access to expanded events, training, and professional development opportunities.
A transitional board is in place to oversee the process, and a new Board of Trustees will be elected by members after the Society’s formal launch. The merger also includes the transfer of funds from both organisations, to be used solely in support of member services and professional development.
To help guide members through the transition, an FAQ document is available and will be updated regularly. For any queries, BIAC members are encouraged to contact the office via victoria@biac.co.uk or by calling 01275 375559.
This move sets a new direction for agricultural consultancy and management – and BIAC is proud to be at the heart of shaping the future as part of the Society of Agriculture.
