About BIAC

BIAC is merging with the Institute of Agricultural Management (IAgrM) to form the Society of Agriculture (SocAg) — the UK’s new professional body for agricultural excellence.

From 1 January 2026, BIAC’s work, membership, and professional development programmes will continue within SocAg. The merger unites BIAC’s long-standing expertise in agricultural consultancy with IAgrM’s leadership in management and training, creating a single, stronger organisation to serve the sector.

About BIAC

Interested in membership?

From 1 January 2026, BIAC members will automatically become part of the Society of Agriculture (SocAg) — the new professional body formed through the merger of BIAC and IAgrM.

SocAg will offer a structured membership framework that recognises professional experience and responsibility across consultancy, management, and advisory roles.

Membership grades will include Student, Practitioner, Advisor, Fellow, and Chartered Fellow, with a clear progression route for every stage of your career.

All existing BIAC member benefits, including event access and CPD recognition, will continue seamlessly through SocAg.

What did BIAC do?

The British Institute of Agricultural Consultants (BIAC) proudly supported professional standards and knowledge-sharing in agricultural consultancy for over 50 years.

In 2026, BIAC will merge with the Institute of Agricultural Management (IAgrM) to form the Society of Agriculture (SocAg) — a new, forward-looking professional body representing excellence across the entire agricultural profession.

This merger strengthens our collective voice, supports the development of Chartered status for the profession, and ensures the continuity of BIAC’s mission to uphold integrity, professionalism, and practical expertise in agricultural consultancy.

How do we manage ourselves?

  • A modern Constitution and Code of Conduct to provide our council with a professional framework that is transparent to our members, our members’ clients and the industry in which we operate.
  • An Executive for the day-to-day activities of BIAC.
The Entrance Membership and Disciplinary Committee for the governance of membership including all applications for membership, the operation of the Code of Conduct and ethical matters.
  • A Publicity and Development Committee to promote BIAC, its members and its activities through whatever medium is judged the most suitable.
  • To constantly review how BIAC is promoted and to market BIAC to other professionals to gain their membership.
  • External accreditation of BIAC by the British Accreditation Bureau to demonstrate transparency.

What do we expect of members?

  • To abide by a Code of Conduct.
  • To maintain and enhance their professional standards.
  • To hold and to prove Professional Indemnity Insurance.
  • To demonstrate Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and report the same to BIAC.
