 2010 SPS News |
|   | "DEFRA have announced that the minimum claim size for SPS and other direct farm payments has been set at ONE HECTARE commencing with the 2010 scheme year. This follows industry wide consultation which basically asked DEFRA/RPA to make as few changes as possible to the existing schemes since they are all due to be reviewed significantly for 2012/13"
BIAC Chief Executive, Anthony Hyde, comments that DEFRA and RPA would be far better to concentrate on remedying their unsatisfactory delivery of the existing scheme and focusing on getting farmers' claims accurately completed and the mapping programme out to all farmers before it is too late. It is vital that DEFRA/RPA regain that bit of confidence in them, that had begun to creep back in before the mapping refresh fiasco hit the indsutry this summer.
